WHY ELECTION SHOULD BE CONDUCTED AND NOT CONDUCTED IN NEPAL???

Election is simply the process of choosing a leader for the welfare of the nation and the general people by utilizing the voting rights by the general people.

Before moving to the depth, let’s understand what democracy actually is in brief.

A group of people of certain place vote a candidate and elect that candidate as their representative through the voting system (i.e. election). While electing that candidate, those general people also entrust their understandings, hope and beliefs to that candidate, so that, the candidate could bring peace and development in that place where every people could get at least better environment than before. Now, that candidate becomes the member of the parliament system (it’s nothing but the system to run the government) and illustrates every problem faced by the people of the place from where s/he has been elected. That problem is listened by the government bodies and the government provides certain management to support the development at that place. Like this, different candidates are selected from different parts of the country and every one of them expresses different kinds of problems from different places and those problems are solved jointly by the government teams and bring the light of development at every place slowly and gradually.

We’re talking about democracy and the phrase of Abraham Lincoln is not there, it's literally impossible.

Abraham Lincoln said, “Democracy is the government of the people, by the people and for the people.”

In Nepal, election is held in the interval of every 5 years according to the constitution. In this election, there will be the selection of candidates for the House of Representatives and national assembly.

In the tenure of 5 years, a lot of development could be achieved by a country through a stable and effective government.

WHY ELECTION SHOULD BE CONDUCTED IN NEPAL?

The developing environment in Nepal is one of the major reasons for the conduction of election after every five years. Every people know the varieties of problems in Nepal and they also know that how those problems are affecting them every day directly or indirectly. It works like a circle. When a person is facing a problem in Mechi, then its consequences should be faced by the people of Mahakali too. It sounds wired but it’s true. Similarly, development works in same way. The development of Kathmandu valley is not the one and only development of the whole nation. Likewise, the changing interval of time and generation requires updated developments which could be achieved through people with modern and smart mindset. Representatives with traditional mindset can’t bring the updated and smart version of development in the nation. After every five years, candidates with different mindset and principles stand on the election. People could choose the best from them and caste their important votes.

We could easily see that, when election comes near then many political leaders visit to general people’s houses pretend to support those people’s works. Likewise, they also pretend to do some kind of development like building roads, bridges, drinking water facilities, etc. Some pretend to eat food sitting beside general people. Some pretend to fix the street lights. And these are the factors where most of the general people slip and face consequences for next five years. This is one of the most important factor where most of the people miss to understand. A development is not just building roads, bridges, drinking water facilities, street lights, etc. It is something that comes from the better administration.

A single bridge built during the existence of strong administration is far better than those thousands of bridges built during the weak administration.

A nation could be prosperous only if it gets a strong administration. It’s like a base for a tall growing building. When a candidate is being elected, then people should be fully aware that the candidate will definitely bring a strong change in the administration and makes it strong.

Now, What Is Administration?

A government is there to serve people. A person has to make birth certificate when the child is born. When that child reaches the age 16, then s/he has to acquire citizenship. Likewise, the formation and formulation of budget at effective sectors, development of sustainable national projects and plans, diplomatic relations, etc. are administration's responsibilities to conduct. Similarly, the growing age requires many more things such as security services, driving license, house papers, property papers, land papers, paying taxes, death certificates, education degrees from universities, government service employments, paying electricity bills, drinking water bills, loans, education loans and many more necessities that are required for general public. Likewise, construction of sustainable roads, bridges, buildings, hospitals, schools, parks, street lights, electricity, drinking water, health, education, etc. all fall under administration. All these kinds of services are included in administration. And without administration, all these services are absent to the general people.

So, a strong administration is the only thing expected in exchange for a single vote.

WHY ELECTION SHOULDN’T BE CONDUCTED IN NEPAL?

The national election commission has announced that the total budget only for the 2079 B.S. local election is around NRs. 8 Billion and 110 Million. Similarly, for federal election, it is estimated up to NRs. 10 Billion. So, does that amount of budget is even worth to conduct an election? It’s absolutely not. When the election is conducted and the representatives are selected, then their tenure will be only for certain years. The council of ministers will be formed again when the Prime Minister gets changed. Now, we select a Prime Minister from this election and after some time, s/he will be changed or forced to be changed by the opposition democratic parties. It’s because there is no any strong administration.

After when the Prime Minister gets changed, then the previous development strategies will be removed by the new Prime Minister and those development projects will be stopped in the middle of nowhere and new development projects will be implemented by the new PM. It is nothing but the waste of money.

When the government is not stable and the developing strategies are not strong, then the development works will be remained half completed and causes no benefits economically but only loss. Likewise, when the government will change after certain months of election, then why to waste so much money on election?

When election is on the neck, then only, these representatives pretend to show some developments, but not during their tenure. What is the use of important votes casted by the general people? It’s as if some kind of disrespect has been shown to the general people important votes.
